*Attend College lunches and workshops.
*Register for October and November SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests and ACT Test.
*Register and take ACT Test September 9th.
*Early Decision/Early Action candidates should begin completing applications.
*Write to colleges from which you have not received information.
OCTOBER:
*Early Decision/Early Action candidate applications should be underway.
*Continue to meeting with your counsellor regarding the application process.
*Request letters of recommendation from grade 12 teachers.
*Oxford/Cambridge UCAS deadline Oct.15 (Due at UCAS!)
*October 7th SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests.
*October 28th ACT Test.
*Register for November and December SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests.
*Talk with university representatives that visit the area.
*Take advantage of “application afternoons” (3-4 p.m.)
*Decide on date for TOEFL/IELTS and register accordingly.
NOVEMBER:
*Register for December SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests and ACT Tests.
*November 4th- SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests.
*Take advantage of “application afternoons” (3-4 p.m.)
*COMPLETE APPLICATION PROCESS.
*Take advantage of visiting university representatives.
*Take the TOEFL/IELTS.
DECEMBER:
*Dec. 2nd- SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests.
*Dec.9th- ACT Test.
*Take advantage of “application afternoons”.
*Finish university applications.
*Make a copy of each application for your records!
*It is a good idea to use December as the deadline for the UCAS applications.
JANUARY:
*January 15th UCAS Deadline (actual).
*File FAFSA&CCS, if financial aid is needed for universities in the United States.
*Send additional Report Forms to College Entrance Examination Board (SAT), ETS (TOEFL) or ACT if test scores have not been received by colleges.
*Rolling admission candidates notified.
*Mid-year reports will be sent via Naviance, Common App or mail by the counselling office.
*If universities have not notified you that all application materials have been received, write to them for verification.
FEBRUARY/MARCH/APRIL:
*If materials are reported missing , please DO NOT PANIC, the counselling office will send it again!
*Notification of university acceptances and rejections arrive. Inform your counsellor immediately regarding each decision. Please bring acceptance letter.
*Communicate with your colleges if you are worried about the applications being complete!
*Request extension of Candidates Reply Date, only if necessary. Do not assume your request has been granted until you receive a new deadline date in writing.
*And unfortunately WAIT!!!!
MAY:
*May 1st- U.S. Standard date for initial deposit for your chosen university! Don’t miss this date! You can lose your place at the university!
*Continue to keep a file/record/portfolio of your achievements.
